The result of actualising linguistic potential within the lexicogrammar is a selection of grammatical paradigmatic features and corresponding syntagmatic structure fragments. Only tools which cover the full paradigmatic-syntagmatic-potential-instantial dimensions can represent such actualised potential fully. Several tools provide partial views of this—for example, allowing 'coding' by selecting either paradigmatic features or syntagmatic results, but not both, or by allowing both without checking whether the two aspects of a description are compatible.
