Renate Henschel has substantially contributed to the following projects:

	GeM Genre and Multimodality		Gnome Generation of Nominal Expressions
	The GeM project assumes that language, layout, image and typography are all purposive forms of communication and aims to analyze all these elements in one common framework. The focus of the project is to extricate how the use of these two modes - the visual and the verbal one - varies across different genres. To that purpose, we have analysed pages of four different genres: bird field guides, instruction manuals, newspapers, and newspaper webpages with respect to rhetorical structure and layout, and present the analysis as XML-based electronic corpus.		The goal of the Gnome project is the development and implementation of general algorithms for the generation of nominal expressions, which prove applicable to different NLG system environments.
