The Presidential Board have agreed on the following

Declaration of the Ethic Principles of CHIN

  1. CHIN is an academic network, focused on the study of the Chamorro language of the Mariana Islands.
  2. CHIN is born with an international and pluralistic vocation.
  3. CHIN members are individual researchers, professors and scholars, from several countries and nationalities, interested on the Chamorro language.
  4. CHIN arises from the need to pay attention to the Chamorro language, as a living language which presents some features of great interest to the international scientific community.
  5. CHIN has no political, ideological or religious position, and respects the freedom of its members.
  6. CHIN has not an opinion on the political status -past, present or future- of the islands making up the archipelago of the Marianas.
  7. CHIN defends academic freedom and the plurality of scientific approaches in studies on the Chamorro language.
  8. CHIN appreciates and welcomes the efforts made for the study, research, teaching and knowledge of Chamorro language.
  9. CHIN promotes professional relationships between institutions and individuals who are interested in the Chamorro language and culture, especially between Chamorro professionals with the rest of the world.
  10. CHIN wants to give the Chamorro people and the international community new elements of valuation and interest in the Chamorro language.
