| This classic thriller, for which Wilder was
nominated for an Oscar, is one of the best-loved
examples of film
noir ever made. Femme fatale Phyllis Dietrichsen
(Stanwyck) seduces insurance salesman Walter Neff (MacMurray)
into murdering and then feigning the accidental death of her husband
Tom Powers, before claiming the premium on the latter´s
life. However, a dogged insurance investigator
(Robinson) smells a rat and suspects Dietrichsen of murder. |
