Now we will try the same questions with the Wordsmith tool. The first thing is to see if the tool is already installed on your machine: look under the Start menu.
Wordsmith is already installed on the PCs in the FB10 CIP-Labor: keep looking way down in the program list under the Start menu!). You do NOT have to install Wordsmith! (And you should not!!). The instructions here are only for your own PC at home or elsewhere and are for obtaining a DEMO version of the software: the version that is installed in the CIP-Labor is the full version. In the CIP-Labor you can go straight on to the next step.
If Wordsmith is not installed on your computer, we can install a demo version of Wordsmith directly over the net. Go to the Wordsmith homepage and look for downloads (preferably from the Liverpool site). Wordsmith comes in two files (ws_part1.exe and ws_part2.exe), these need to be placed in some single folder on your machine. They are also zipped, so you need to then unzip them. Finally you click on the installation program for Wordsmith (the file setup.exe that you will now find in the directory that you made) and it should do the rest.
Note: if you have problems accessing the Wordsmith site (because it happens to be down at this time, or the network is having problems, etc.), then try again later.
After this procedure, you should be able to go to the folder where you told the installer program to put Wordsmith and find the file called Wshell.exe. This is the main Wordsmith tool and clicking on this twice should start the program.
