newleaf Christmas reading

The gilded stucco ceilings of the Villa Ichon provided the perfect backdrop for the first newleaf Christmas reading on December 14th, 2005. It was an evening of many firsts. To begin with, this was the first newleaf event to take place at the Villa Ichon. It certainly won't be the last, as the entire newleaf team was very impressed by the architectural beauty of the venue, not to mention overwhelmed by the size of the audience. What is more, the reading also marked the newleaf debuts of Michel Büch, who took over the hosting duties, and his band Friends of Mine, who provided the music. Another newleaf debutante was Cypriot writer Chrystalla Thoma, who read a selection of her poems, some of which will appear in newleaf 20. newleaf stalwarts Ole D. Herlyn, Julia Scheit and Franziska Kreuser dazzled the audience with a mixture of seasonal and non-seasonal texts, including Franziska Kreuser's Daniil Pashkoff prize winning story Angel.
