Events
newleaf is literature live. Every year we have several well-publicised events in and around Bremen at which our authors read. First and foremost, there are the launches twice a year, where the new issue is presented to a breathlessly waiting literary world. These launches have become something of a cult and finally outgrew their original venue, the Café Ambiente on Osterdeich, to the extent that the venue organisers were seriously worried about safety regulations. So in 2004 we moved to the more spacious Lagerhaus in the Ostertor area near the city centre.
We continue to do readings at the Ambiente, which we love and which for many authors is still 'home'. These smaller, quieter events take place between the launches, as do readings elsewhere, for instance in pubs or at other venues in the region. We also appear as guests at larger events organised by others, such as the Bremer Kleinkunstabende or an evening with the Irish folk group Northern Lights in the Speicherbühne. We have read live on Radio Bremen's Kultourbahn as part of the international Poetry on the Road festival and took part in the 2004 Bloomsday centenary celebrations run by Radio Bremen and the Thalia Buchhaus.
